What is the Alberta PNP?
Provinces and territories in Canada all have Provincial Nominee Programs that allow a foreign national to apply for permanent residence in. The main condition of these PNPs is that the foreign national must intend to live in the province or territory that nominated them. For example, if a foreign national applies to a British Columbia PNP and receives a nomination certificate from them, they cannot enter Canada and go live in Ontario.
For the province of Alberta, the PNP which allows a foreign national to immigrate to Canada without a job offer is called the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) Express Entry Stream. After applying, if the foreign national's application is approved, they will receive a nomination certificate from the province of Alberta. This nomination certificate must be accepted within 30 days of receiving it. For more detailed information about the process and requirements, please visit the AINP website. After being successfully nominated, the foreign national must ensure their Express Entry profile is up-to-date to show that they have received a provincial nomination. In subsequent Express Entry draws done by the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, the foreign national may receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) which allows them to apply for permanent residence as a provincial nominee. The foreign national must apply for permanent residence within 60 days of receiving an ITA.
